BOMA-Atlanta congratulates Joseph Powell for completing all five semesters of the Commercial HVAC program and being recognized at the Jan. 14 BOMA-Atlanta luncheon.
Commercial HVAC graduates are a physical representation of the successful partnership between Chattahoochee Technical College and BOMA-Atlanta. The BOMA Technical Organization (BTO) worked hand-in-hand with Chattahoochee Technical College in late 2006 to provide the special Commercial HVAC course for commercial building engineers. The course provided an opportunity for engineers to enhance their service skills through hands-on training, enabling them to become more proficient in their work environments.

“I can tell you we are making a difference. Enduring five quarters of schooling after a long day at work is not an easy thing for a building engineer to undertake. It takes a great deal of dedication and determination!” said Jim Gieselman, a Commercial HVAC course instructor.
Attendees of each of the five-semester courses met Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks per semester to study a variety of practical topics, including commercial refrigeration systems, energy management, DDC controls, pneumatic calibration, cooling tower maintenance, air handlers, pumps, boilers and water and air balancing.

BOMA-Atlanta applauds the accomplishments of program graduates such as Joseph Powell and looks forward to continuing to build strong partnerships that enhance the professionalism and value of membership.

Are you a building engineer looking for a way to obtain your heating, ventilating and air-conditioning certification? Mark your calendars because the third semester Commercial HVAC course starts April 2, 2009. You may take the semester courses in any order; you do not have to take the first and second semester courses to register for this course. Classes will be held Thursday evenings 5 to 9 p.m. from April 2 through June 4. Prices are $625 for members and $725 for non-members. To register, contact BOMA-Atlanta Director of Finance and Administration Nancy Hodge at (404) 475-9980 or nhodge@boma-atlanta.org or visit www.boma-atlanta.org
